About the Role

We're a small Hong Kong-based startup building a recruitment platform for the food and beverage industry. Think job boards, shift management, employer dashboards, candidate profiles, the whole stack. React frontend, Supabase backend, bilingual (English and Traditional Chinese). We're looking for 2-3 freelance QA testers to join us on a flexible, ongoing basis. You'd be testing new features as they ship, running through user flows on both desktop and mobile, and flagging anything that feels off. We release frequently and need people who can turn around testing within 24-48 hours of a build dropping. Freelance / contract basis, paid per testing cycle or hourly (negotiable). Fully remote, but you'll need some overlap with Hong Kong hours (GMT+8) for standups and quick queries. Estimated 10-20 hours per month initially, scaling with feature velocity. Rate: HK$200-350/hour depending on experience. Start: Immediately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manually testing employer and candidate workflows end to end
  • Posting jobs, applying to jobs, managing shifts, reviewing applications, editing profiles, uploading documents, processing payments via Stripe
  • Checking both English and Chinese versions of every flow
  • Browser testing across Chrome, Safari, and mobile viewports
  • Writing clear bug reports with screenshots and steps to reproduce
  • Turning around testing within 24-48 hours of a build dropping

Requirements

  • Someone who's worked in or around hospitality and understands the language
  • If you know what a CDP is (and we don't mean a customer data platform), what split shifts look like, or why a venue might need both a Hygiene Manager and a Kitchen Porter, you'll pick up our product much faster than a generic tester
  • Previous QA experience is important but formal certifications aren't required
  • We care more about attention to detail and clear communication than ISTQB badges
  • Comfortable with tools like Loom for screen recordings, Notion or Linear for bug tracking, and Slack for day-to-day communication
  • Basic understanding of how web apps work (you don't need to read code, but knowing what a 404 vs a 500 means helps)
  • Need some overlap with Hong Kong hours (GMT+8) for standups and quick queries
