About the Role

Mantegaria, a specialty Italian bakery in Central, is seeking an enthusiastic Barista/Shop Assistant to join our team. This dual-role position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your coffee-making skills whilst working in a vibrant, quality-focused environment. You'll be part of a small team serving our signature Italian pastries, freshly baked focaccia, and premium coffee to a diverse clientele of office workers, residents, and food enthusiasts in one of Hong Kong's most dynamic districts. This is an ideal role for someone passionate about coffee culture and artisanal food who wants to grow within an authentic Italian concept. You'll work closely with our experienced team, learning traditional techniques whilst delivering warm, efficient service. The role involves both counter service and food preparation support, making each day varied and engaging. Working in Central means exposure to a sophisticated customer base and the chance to be part of Hong Kong's thriving speciality food scene.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve espresso-based beverages to a consistent standard, including cappuccinos, flat whites, and specialty drinks
• Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper calibration
• Serve customers at the counter, taking orders, processing payments, and providing friendly, efficient service

• Maintain hygiene standards throughout the shop, including regular cleaning of work areas, equipment, and customer spaces
• Handle cash and card transactions accurately, managing the till during your shifts
• Restock ingredients, pastries, and retail items, monitoring inventory levels and reporting shortages
• Communicate effectively with customers in Cantonese and English, explaining menu items and making recommendations

Requirements

• Proficient in both English and Cantonese
• Physically fit and must be able to work in a prolonged standing environment
• Strong multi-tasking skills with customer-first attitude
