Created by a group of hospitality industry leaders who experienced firsthand the staffing challenges facing Hong Kong venues, Shift Happens emerged from a genuine need within our community. Chief Executive Officer & Founder
Jeff brings extensive cross-border corporate experience to Shift Happens, having served as Group General Counsel and Management Committee Member at Fortune 500 listed Noble Group for fifteen years, where his responsibilities extended to investor relations, cybersecurity, insurance, and sustainability. His career includes seven years as Executive Director at Morgan Stanley focusing on private equity and fund management, and seven years as Asia General Counsel for AIG's investment division. An England and Hong Kong admitted lawyer, Jeff has successfully founded businesses in both the biotech and online employment agency sectors, bringing practical entrepreneurial insight to his legal and governance expertise. His understanding of regulatory frameworks, stakeholder management, and business development across multiple jurisdictions informs Shift Happens' approach to building a compliant and scalable hospitality staffing platform.
Marcus Treamer
Chief Product Officer
Marcus shapes product strategy for Shift Happens by bridging his hospitality industry background with technology development, focusing on creating solutions that address real operational challenges facing Hong Kong venues. His role centres on understanding the distinct needs of both venues requiring reliable staffing and professionals seeking flexible opportunities, translating these insights into platform improvements and market positioning. Drawing on experience in hospitality operations and marketing, Marcus collaborates across the team on product development and user experience enhancements that respond to the industry's unpredictable demand patterns. This practical approach to problem-solving helps ensure the platform serves the genuine needs of Hong Kong's dynamic hospitality community rather than simply delivering features.
Arman Fatahi
Chief Technical Officer
As CEO of Coaio Limited and Chief Technical Officer at Shift Happens, Arman brings over fifteen years of software engineering experience spanning Hong Kong's technology sector and Vietnam's outsourcing industry. His expertise in managing cross-border technology projects informs the technical architecture of the Shift Happens platform, ensuring robust enterprise-level infrastructure and security management. Holding certifications as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and in The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), alongside a Master of Science in Computer Science, Arman applies rigorous technical standards to platform development whilst maintaining focus on cost-effective delivery. His experience building systems across diverse regional markets helps Shift Happens develop technology that addresses Hong Kong's specific hospitality staffing requirements whilst maintaining the flexibility for future expansion.
Ip Tsui
Head of Business Development
Ip brings diverse entrepreneurial and financial expertise to Shift Happens, having founded and operated successful businesses in healthcare product wholesale and garment trading across Hong Kong, Mainland China, and the United Kingdom. Her analytical foundation was built through roles as an Equity Research Analyst at Tristone Capital in London and as an Investment Fund Accountant at CIBC Mellon in Toronto, where she managed teams administering investment funds and developed financial models supporting corporate decision-making. Educated at the Rotman School of Management with an MBA and McMaster University's DeGroote School of Business, Ip applies systematic business analysis to identifying growth opportunities for Shift Happens within Hong Kong's hospitality sector. Her fluency in Mandarin, Cantonese, and Shanghai dialects, combined with international business experience, positions her to develop partnerships that strengthen the platform's market presence.
Joseph Mak
Head of Sales and Marketing
Joseph brings over thirty years of food and beverage industry experience to Shift Happens, currently serving as Chief Executive Officer at Sang Lee Group Catering Limited whilst leading business development across the hospitality group's portfolio. His career spans leadership roles at prestigious organisations including Langham Hospitality Group, Maxim's Group, Compass Group UK, and the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, where he developed expertise in multi-unit management and strategic operations. Notably, as Group General Manager at Kabushikigaisha company Limited, Joseph oversaw fifty branches and became the first F&B group leader in Hong Kong to implement Amoeba Management Philosophy organisation-wide, demonstrating his commitment to operational innovation. His extensive network across Hong Kong's hospitality sector, combined with certifications in management consulting and corporate coaching, enables him to articulate Shift Happens' value proposition to venues facing the staffing challenges he understands firsthand.
